You’ve Decided to Follow Jesus. Now it’s time to celebrate through baptism!

Thank you! Someone from our Lead Team will contact you soon to schedule your baptism.

Why do I need to get baptized?

Baptism is an important way to publicly express your faith in Jesus. Baptism illustrates a believer’s identification with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection.  The action of being immersed in the water illustrates dying and being buried with Christ. The action of coming out of the water pictures Christ’s resurrection. See Romans 6:3-4

Does baptism make me right with God?

No. Baptism is the symbol of what has already occurred in the heart and life of one who has trusted Christ as Savior (Romans 6:3-5; Galatians 3:27; Colossians 2:12). Baptism is an important step of obedience that every Christian should take. Baptism cannot be a requirement for making us right with God. To make it such is an attack on the sufficiency of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Baptism Questions?

+ Is baptism tied to church membership?

No. We do not have formal membership at Lifestone. If you consider Lifestone Church your church home, you are a member of our family! Baptism is not about you and Lifestone Church. Baptism is a celebration of you and JESUS.

+ Do I need to pay tithing in order to be baptized?

No. We do no practice Old Testament tithing. Instead, the New Testament of the Bible teaches us to give cheerfully, whatever we decide in our hearts to give. (2 Corinthians 9:7) Giving is in no way tied to baptism. Again, baptism is simply a celebration of what Jesus has done in your life!

+ Will I be asked to speak to a church leader regarding my "worthiness?

No. We are only worthy of entering the Kindgom of Heaven (here on earth and for eternity) because of what Jesus accomplished in his death and ressurection. We can never be worthy on our own. No number of good works or religious acts will ever be enough - this is why God the Father sent us Jesus! He is our ultimate and perfect rescue!

+ Do salvation and baptism mean that I will never sin again?

No. When we put our trust in Jesus, we become righteous in spirit. When the Father looks at us, He sees Jesus' perfect righteousness! However, during our time on earth, we are still living in what the Bible calls "the flesh" and we will continue to be tempted to sin. But check this out: God wants the BEST for His children! John 10:10 says that Jesus came so that we can have abundant lives! We can trust God’s Word (the Bible) and the Holy Spirit inside of us to lead and guide our lives into right living and away from the sinful desires of the flesh. The Holy Spirit is a constant companion who continually reveals truth to us and corrects our thinking and behavior which transforms us more and more into the image of Christ.
